Toddlers and Twos

Our Toddlers and Twos class has a maximum student to teacher ratio of 5:1. It meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9am to 12pm.

Daily activities include indoor free play, outdoor free play (weather permitting), snack time, quiet time, art centers, and circle time.  The class attends Music and Movement on a weekly basis.  Once the teachers feel that they are ready, they also join the other classes for weekly Chapel.

Art centers are planned around a developmentally appropriate Theme  (such as Circles, Squares, Teddy Bears), Shape of the Month, and Color of the Month.  Students explore different forms of art such as drawing, painting, stamping, collage, play dough, using scissors. Students develop different motor skills and learn about colors, shapes, and the week's theme while having fun and expressing themselves creatively.

During circle time, the class reads a book, sings a song, and plays a game related to the week's theme or another learning goal.  Other activities may be added on some days.  Circle time is a fun way to learn about the week's theme, as well as an opportunity to work on listening, speaking, sharing, and taking turns.

The goals for this class include learning to count, and to recognize basic shapes, colors, letters, numbers, and the child's own name.
Through our active learning curriculum, students will learn all this while developing fine motor skills, making friends, learning to listen, learning to share, learning to work within an expanded social group, and having fun!
